WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE…

Home Smart Home - Fall 2011 Front page

We have made the front cover and an article in ‘Home smart home’ magazine in the States, and we also had the pleasure of working with David Hicks and Daniel White Directors of ‘Nottingham’ based company ‘MAX-AV’ specialists in Audio/Visual systems here in the UK and ‘suppliers of the Control 4 System’ – this system makes it possible for virtually any appliance or device in your home to intelligently communicate with another—from locks to lights, doors to drapes—and you the ability to control them, no matter where you are. ‘Commercial photography’ by ‘Andy Oliver Photography’ demands not only high quality photography but also creativity, an understanding of  how to capture images for print and design,  and a fast turnaround.

‘AOP’ can help bring a ‘unique perspective’ to your ‘corporate imagery’, helping you ‘stand our from the competition’ and ensuring your products are ‘presented in the best possible way’. In today’s competitive market, ‘creative photography’ and ‘memorable imagery’ can give you a ‘unique advantage’.

The MaxAV install stretched into the office and gym showing how versatile the Control4 system really is.

A picture really can speak volumes, and powerfully ‘associate your business’ with a product, ‘brand’ or service- offering.

‘Take your wedding photography seriously ?’

Here are few more ‘popular couples wedding images’
Serenaded whilst photographing… PRICELESS

Telling the story of your wedding day from start to finish makes all the difference visually when designing your ‘unique wedding album’ and helps your designated designer at Andy Oliver Studio record your day completely in one beautifully hand crafted album. This set of images of Lee and the boys just before they started getting ready really helped set the mood and the pace of the whole day and tied in really well with pictures we got later in the day. Does it matter and is it worth booking and paying for a ‘professional wedding photographer’ to record your day? some people would say no…. all I want are a few pictures at the church, to others their wedding day is the most important day of their lives and take the role of photography very seriously.

The boys prepare to prepare..

Lets face it professional ‘wedding photography prices’ by pros that ‘know their craft’ aren’t cheep, people with camera are, why is there such a vast price difference between photographers? this could be one reason.. ‘their not photographers’, don’t be fooled, quite often they are wanting the images for a portfolio or just to make a few quid on the side, I don’t condemn people at all who want to learn a new craft and join the photography fraternity but is it really worth letting them practice on you?

The type of album supplied to a client can be at the very core of the price they charge as well as the fact that many hours are spent on the whole project, both Jenni and me calculated the we spend around 70 hrs on each wedding, from initial consultation – pre wed shoot – wedding photography – viewings – editing – album design ……etc

Did Lee really need a drink this early in the morning..?

Sorry for the slight rant above only we recently had a lovely lady in to the studio in a bit of a state with her self because a friend of a friend of a friend had done her wedding photography and lets just say they hadn’t turned out quite as she was expecting. We decided on this occasion to try and help her out.

Ria and her unique head-dress

Ria had spent a lot of time choosing her unique head-dress, so I only thought it apt to squeeze it into as many closeups as possible.

Adrian and Aimee – A fairytail wedding

This blog is not only about a wedding photo shoot but also about a world-class wedding album. Owning a Queensberry is like owning a precious heirloom. Our business at Andy Oliver Photography is to record your memories creativly, Queensberry are experts in crafting memories… fairy tales, love stories and special moments into treasured objects to enjoy, reflect upon and share forever.

Own a Queensberry

Adi and Aimee  were without doubt one of the nicest couples both Jenni and I have ever worked with and a fairy tale wedding was in order for both of them. The shoot took us again to the heart of Birmingham city and then onto Hagley Hall. Two totally contrasting venues with the very contemporary Hyatt on broad street to start the day and the grandeur of Lord Cobham’s Hagley Hall to finish.

Our partners Queensberry of New Zealand were supplying Adi and Aimee’s wedding album, they produce one of – if not the finest wedding albums in the world, only serious professional photographers partner with Queensberry and after the recky of both venues I could visualize in my mind exactly how the album would look and be laid out.

Starting point - Hyatt Hotel Birmingham

The Hyatt lobby gave me some great photo opportunities, and although we didn’t have all the time in the world I managed to get what I wanted for the album, the images needed to reflect the mood of the groom and best man which was how you would like to enjoy a good white wine, extremely chilled.

Wedding with a unique difference.

South Bank London

So let me set the scene……. pre wedding shoot south bank of the river Thames London –  backdrop the millenium eye and the houses of parliament and our groom to be was on a mission to get back to work in the city before his lunch break was over. To add to the pressure of all this Simon and Aninder were having trouble finding us as we had all never met in person before and Aninders blackberry had been  left on the kitchen table at home so we had no means what so ever of getting in touch – and time was ticking away. We did pull it off and the results were great, both Simon and Aninder were so such an easy-going couple we jelled instantly. How to plan your wedding in 6 weeks… and it be a total success sounds like the title of a best-selling book but that’s exactly what events expert Aninder did… with fireworks.

Nerves of steel - Aninder embraced every moment

Aninders stunning first gown

A wedding with a unique difference was planned and Aninder wore a traditional English wedding dress for the day (stunning) and a traditional Asian wedding dress for the evening, colour was on the menu throughout the whole venue – Hagley Hall Birmingham – so that meant great photography opportunities from the word go and the icing on the cake was to be Simon surprise  when the sun had set and total darkness had cloaked the whole grounds.

Big Day Entertainment print & design project

Photography - print & design by Andy Oliver photography

Choosing your wedding day disco is as important as choosing your wedding day photographer and can add the fines to your perfectly planned day, choosing a photographer – print & design team to help market your business is also as important. Andy Oliver Photography now offer the whole service under one roof and were recently asked by Big Day Entertainment to produce a marketing campaign to coincide with the launch of their new website which was undertaken by the more than capable hands of Bubble Marketing. It wasn’t hard to capture the energy of the room at one of BDE’s events and we were soon on our way to shift through the images we had got. Paul – one member of our design team was given the task to produce the visuals for BDE’s poster campaign to the specific criteria given to us – clean – classy and simple to read to fit in with, and appeal with their target market leaving them hungry for more information.

The key image used in the logo and poster campaign was also used in the production of a large 3 x 2 meter vail that would form a punchy eye catching backdrop to BDE’s  disco setup and help potential clients identify a brand image with a professional disco company, you can glance at an image for a few seconds and immediately know who you are dealing with. Andy Oliver Photography and Print now supply pop up banners and all large format products in house using the latest large format print technology and our 54″ jetmounter, this means we have absolute full control over how an end product will look whilst cutting out the middle man and passing the savings on to our clients. This whole service is not as expensive as you you may think and is essential in todays over crowded markets.

We look forward to progressing with BDE’s marketing – print – design and photography and wish them all the best with their new campaign.

Surprise – Bill Hodgson birthday bash with special guest….

Reportage almost all the way

The astonishment you feel when something totally unexpected happens to you just can not be put into words, but it can be put into pictures. Andy Oliver Photography has recently been commissioned to capture those moments in Doncaster for Bill Hodgsons milestone birthday celebration – it was reportage almost all the way and just cements to me the importance of good photography to look back on in years to come. For all you football fanatics Ron Flowers former england player (also of Wolverhampton wanderers fame) to name but a few caps he holds attended Bill bash. Ron won 49 caps for England and scored 10 goals. His international debut came on 15 May 1955 in a 0–1 friendly defeat to France. He went on to appear in the 1962 World Cup and scored two goals from the penalty spot in the group stage, Ron was also in the squad that won the world cup in 1966.

Great night and a smashing family.

Alex & Zoe – Pre wedding shoot

Alex and Zoe quickly get into the swing of things

It is always a good idea to book your pre wedding photo shoot as early as possible, this gives both the couple and photographer time to really get to know each other and work together so that on the wedding day everyone is comfortable and feels confident, this really does make the world of difference and shows through on the photograph. We had a great afternoon and a few of the elements to play around with (Sun & wind), a great combination that could help produce some stunning shots. We started in the studio, this helped my timing a lot as I no where the sun will be in different areas around my home town of Newark ( it always helps to do your homework ) and helped Alex and Zoe chill about the whole concept of being photographed by a professional out side, with people milling around.

It’s great when I get chance to be a little bit creative – I never miss an opportunity to play around with a bit of controlled lens flare, notice also how by turning my subjects with there backs to the sun it eliminates any dark shadows around the eyes and beneath the nose and creates a bright ring of light around Alex’s head, separating him more from the background and a ring of light that follows the contour of Zoe’s face.

Time to change location now that the sun has moved on.

Creating an (Alone moment)

Hard to believe that there were people playing around near by – well done guys.

On our way back to the studio all finished (well almost)

I never stop looking for an opportunity to produce a different image so we made our way back to the studio via an ally way.

And when feet get TIRED........

Live Music Management band photo shoot

The boys of Nat King Bing and the Kings of Shwing

Call in to any late night live music venue on a weekend and mid week come to think of it or attend a friends wedding celebration and the chances that you have danced the night away to a band supplied by LMMuk (Live Music Management) one of the UK’s largest wedding band supplier are to say the least very high. Andy Oliver Photography have recently been commissioned to photograph and supply promotional imagery for their latest addition – NAT KING BING AND THE KINGS OF SHWING – these guys really are amazing (want something absolutely unique??) for your wedding or event then I can without doubt recommend these boys, they cover modern day songs but in the style of jazz, this may sound a strange combination but let me assure you it really does work a treat and apart from that they are a great set of lads.

Here are a couple more images from the shoot and as you can see in this section I used a vibrant backdrop (the sky) lighting the subjects with my Profoto strobes, we were on an industrial estate that had lots of old rusty machinery stood around so I had plenty of scope to vary the look of the images and a kind business owner allowed me to power my 12oow lights from his workshop, the shot in the field was taken on the way back, I noticed the great colours and contrast between blue sky and yellow rape seed thinking it summed up perfectly what the guys were all about.

Please do remember if you are looking for a wedding band or event entertainment of any sort including DJ’s give Gary a call at the LMM office and have a chat with him regarding your requirements, I am sure he will be able to help, or call in to the office for a chat face to face:

CWE Solutions supply AOP

The Epson 9890 arrives at Andy Oliver Photography

Having researched printing equipment for what has seemed a life time now was the right time for us to invest and we finally decided on which brand we would use and after visiting this years Focus exhibition at the NEC Birmingham we settled on a company that we had confidence could deliver not only the products we had decided on but also the training – expertise – back up – and after sales we expected. CWE Solutions were our choice and they delivered all of the above and more, from initial meet and greet with Robin at the NEC to product demos at their Sheffield offices and delivery to our riverside studio in Newark where engineer Duncan completed the install without a hitch (and as a bonus he was treated to a hand-made sandwich for lunch) “nice”, see it wasn’t all about finding a company that offered us the world for half the price but more about GUT FEELING and confidence, this always is the path both Jenni and me take when making a major purchase or dealing with suppliers and it hasn’t let us down yet.

CWE Solutions also supplied AOP with our JM54 SHA JetMounter, all we needed to complete our arsenal and simply the perfect combination, it is engineered to deliver a combination of performance and value unequalled in the industry, the popular JetMounterTM54SHA 54 inch (1375mm) electric laminator now includes two new features. The new Single Height Adjustment (SHA) allows the roller nip to be set more quickly, ensuring consistent roller pressure from side to side. A new LCD pressure gauge readout provides this versatile machine with far more process control than other laminators in its category.

Thanks again to the team at CWE Solutions
